Galloway were elected to the town board of aldermen with 125 and 115 votes respectively over incumbents Ada McDonald and George Ennis Swain, who received 75 and 46 votes.
Newcomers Jan Varnam Hickman and Tammie V. In Varnamtown, Mayor Bill Kirby was re-elected with 117 votes over former mayor Judy Galloway’s challenge amassing 83 votes.

Unopposed Mayor Pro Tem Joseph Przywara was elected mayor. The two were elected over challengers Greg Hapner, Lon Forehand and Walter B. Incumbent Wayne Rowell and newcomer Tom Athey were elected to the Ocean Isle Beach Board of Commissioners with 246 and 245 votes, respectively, over challengers Susanne Adams, Wendy Hughes, D.B. According to unofficial election results, Smith bested challenger Leigh Simmons with 331 votes or 63% over Simmons’ 191 votes or 36%.
